Did you know that Amazon River is one of the largest in the world? If you have doubts about how long the Amazon is, you should know that it extends over 6.800 kilometers, exceeding the approximate 6.760 kilometers of the Nile River.

On the other hand, it is also known that the distance between the two banks of the Amazon River is 330 kilometers. The issue related to the length of this freshwater river tributary was always controversial, until the Geographical Society of Lima carried out a study where it was learned that the Amazon is born in the Andes of southern Peru, in the Apacheta stream in the department of Arequipa, giving it a long stretch of kilometers to overcome the Nile River. This study was supported by several internationally renowned scientific entities.
It is worth mentioning that its origin is at more than 5.000 meters of altitude and travels territories concerning Peru and Brazil and then end up flowing into the Atlantic Ocean.
If we have to highlight a river that is located in North American territories without a doubt we must mention the Mississippi (Mississippi in English). This river is the longest in all of North America with its 3.770 kilometers in length, becoming part of the general American culture.
The Mississippi finds its starting point in northern Minnesota, its only tributary being the Missouri, ending its journey in the Gulf of Mexico.
