
Counting on an extensive sandy area surrounded by dunes, the Amoreira beach it is delimited to the north by a huge crag of dark rock that resembles a stretched giant. Amoreira beach is part of the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano y Costa Vicentina. This beach is located at the mouth of a river that allows you to choose between taking baths in the sea or in the river. Amoreira beach is still a natural and wild stronghold, with a white sand coastline that stretches along the river bank Aljezur, forming a picturesque estuary that empties into the sea.
The result of this union forms an immense beach in the shape of a huge curve, through which a large lagoon winds around which is flanked by small promontories with lush vegetation. This beach is popular with fishermen and surfers looking for escape from mass tourism on this quiet coast. At low tide, this beach offers a very beautiful natural spectacle, since it exposes the fossilized rock formations and extensive lagoons are formed in the sand, where the water reaches a temperature above 20ºC. Amoreira is located just 7 kilometers from the Portuguese town of Aljezur, which belongs to the Faro district and has almost 6 inhabitants.
